Reality, as I experience it, has recently begun to reveal itself as a tangled mess of problems. My work provides me with an outlet to observe and slowly begin untangling the knots.
Through large-scale, line-saturated drawings and paintings, I approach the issue of population overgrowth. Spending hours saturating paper with ink allows me to decompress the frustration that I experience when I think about the strain overpopulation is putting on the earth and human race.
Post-consumer plastic bags have also begun to litter my work as environmental plastic accumulation continues to skyrocket. Living in a “throw-away society” fills me with a desire to absorb the glut of discarded material. Through this work I hope to raise awareness of the issue of plastic consumption and the consequences we are facing as a result.
