The following work is an offshoot of some of the large drawings I have been working on.  These new images are hybrid painting/drawings done on wood.  The paint is very thick, you can't really tell from the images, but it actually pops up from the surface. 

I am working with the ideas of:  Growth in many forms- exponential, overtaking, consuming, sickly, worming, slow, healthy, robust, organic and/vs. geometric.  Also cages- skeletons (what once was, is, will be), inside vs. outside, being confined, confining oneself vs. being confined by others, feelings of hollowness and of the necessity of structure in all parts of life- the rouse of chaos.

This work is very new- my ideas are changing and growing with each piece.  I am beginning to find the language to talk about the ideas driving the images.  I feel like the paintings are creating themselves and teaching me what they are about- and I'm slow.  Hopefully I will become more coherant soon.
